Eight Signs You May be Ready to Transfer to a Different College, University

Sometimes it just doesn?t work out, you realize that a certain college or university is not what you had in mind. Are you sure that you want to leave or are you just temporarily doubtful about your decision? Read more.

You were once so excited about attending your current university or college, but now these days you are becoming more and more disappointed. You might have some idea why you no longer want to be at your school. But why make a decision solely on one or two reasons? There might be a few more as to why you want to attend a different university.

One. You are often homesick.

Now this might be a valid reason as to why you feel you ought to leave your college. Living far away from home is tough. No one does well in fulfilling their dreams when they are constantly missing loved ones especially if you fear that one day soon a few might pass away. If family is very important to you, then maybe it would be best to move closer to home. Besides, think of the money you will save!

Two. You feel more comfortable learning in a setting surrounded by people from a similar ethnicity and/or background.

Sometimes students realize that being around a certain social class or ethnicity can impact them personally in negative ways. There are those institutions that can be emotionally taxing particularly if there aren?t many people of your culture on campus. Try talking to someone about your concerns. Before leaving, find out if there are any support groups on campus that might help you overcome your fears and concerns.

Three. You don?t think you will have enough money to get through another semester.

This is one of the better reasons to transfer to another college. Maybe the one you are attending is costing far too much than you originally thought. You might feel like you are being ripped off! It is understandable to feel this way, because not every institution of higher learning has the kind of programs that will prepare all to compete with others in certain industries. Be sure you conduct thorough research on what other universities and colleges are doing to remain competitive in your future career field.

Four. You are often thinking about leaving.

When you find that you are losing sleep, not eating, and overall have no interest in furthering your education, get out! Don?t waste any more money! The longer you stay at this school you no longer want to attend, the least likely you will be happy and eventually you will drop out!
