The Bruins, still trying to find their rhythm on defense, face a Texas team that hasn't managed to put it together on offense.
The UCLA Bruins are a disappointing 5-3 in 2012, with some key defensive lapses plaguing the team. They may have a chance to put a solid defensive win in the books when they face Texas, who have reached a 5-3 record while struggling on offense.
UCLA's second-half defense is particularly troublesome, and opponents have outscored the Bruins in the second half in all but three of their games. The Bruins have been able to compensate with an effective offense, and they average 76.9 points per game. The Bruins are depending on a number of true freshman this season, and though men like Shabazz Muhammad, Tony Parker and Jordan Adams are extremely talented, some of the finer aspects of the game are taking some time to develop.
Texas has has struggled overall to put points on the board, including in the second half. They average 61.9 points per game, and the absence of NCAA-investigation subject Myck Kabongo is severely hampering the team.
Saturday's meeting features two teams still figuring themselves out. It's anyone's game, but expect UCLA to have the edge.
