This week members of the AllThingsD staff showed up live and in person on all sorts of channels. Should you want to see some of the week?s tech news highlights, rather than just read about them, watch these quick videos.

Mike Isaac turned up on CNBC with some smart answers to a somewhat silly question: ?Is Twitter toast??

Arik Hesseldahl joined WCBS to give some background on emergency cell phone alerts, after one woke up many New Yorkers in the middle of the night.

He was also on the BBC for a hit on the ongoing Dell saga, which he?s been covering on a more-than-daily basis.

And then our media guy Peter Kafka showed up a couple places to talk about a theory that Google or Apple might gain a foothold in TV by buying online broadcast rights for football. Here?s Peter on the Wall Street Journal?s Digits show, and Bloomberg?s audio podcast ?The Inside Scoop.?

Kevin Bacon: 'I pay wedding DJs not to play Footloose theme'

Kevin Bacon has revealed that he bribes wedding DJs not to play 'Footloose'.

The actor - who played the lead in the 1984 film - joked that he has found it hard to escape the role that shot him to fame.

Bacon told chat show host Conan O'Brien: "I go to the disc jockey and hand him $20 and say, 'Please don't play that song'.

"A wedding is really not about me, it's about the bride and groom and it's embarrassing."

The 55-year-old also admitted that wedding guests have in the past expected an impromptu performance when the song is played.

"It's awful. Just awful," he said. "I try to avoid that if possible."

Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer in 'Footloose'

Bacon is currently starring as FBI veteran Ryan Hardy in horror drama The Following.

The second season of the Fox show, which airs on Sky Atlantic in the UK, has been described as "very different" by exec Marcos Siega.

Bacon himself has hinted that the forthcoming run - expected to begin in early 2014 - sees his character in a "different place in his life" and may jump ahead in time.

Rick Perry Will Travel To Israel This Fall

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), who announced this week that he will not be running for reelection, told the Washington Times Thursday that he'll be making a trip to Israel in October.

"We will be going to Israel to bring together Arabs, Christian and Jews in an educational forum,? Perry said in an interview with The Times.

The publication pointed out that the trip foreshadows a potential 2016 presidential run, although Perry told The Times that he has "plenty of time to make that decision."
